| | I thought Facehuggers got nutrition from their eggs? Which is why they stay in their eggs till the host gets too close? |

| | Yes but in the game you may leave the egg whenever you choose, so the nutrition has ceased, instead they need to derive energy from their organs, so their energy/life will diminish slowly, which could also have a gameplay effect, for instance; less chance of infesting prey as the health reduces, perhaps 10% less chance at every quarterly, 75%, 50% and below 25% hp. |

| | Well those eggs seem to keep the facehuggers alive for such a long time that it doesn't even seem like it would matter. |

| Well lets see...how many years ago did that Space Jockey transport ship crash on LV-426? Like millions of years ago?
So obviously if it was that long, those eggs must get that energy somewhere to feed the parasite...
My guess? It absorbs air? Or maybe any gases in the atmosphere...it seems likely, maybe its the gas that was surrounding the eggs in Alien...that probably kept them not only in a hibernative state as I hear, but also may produce a certain gas that never depletes and always keeps the egg nourished.
It may be the same gas in Alien hives. |

| | Look at the bottom of the egg, perhaps those grip things pull nutrition up from the ground. |

| So the egg may have roots? Meaning the Eggs may be plant like?
It seems like those things on the egg bottoms would pull from the ground...but what about if the egg is attached to a wall...
For example, the egg in Alien3, it was on the wall of a Space Cruiser, not solid earth. Meaning they must get their nutrition more than one way, besides the egg, and their organs.
But I don't know how long the egg remained dormant in Alien3, could've been days, weeks...or months. |

| | Perhaps the hive material contains nutrients, and egg absorbs them. |

| | Well hive material is primarily organic compost, corpses etc. So maybe. |

| So you think the eggs get nutrients from the dead victims and the organic compost the Aliens use to make hives?
How bout another topic starter...
How exactly do you think Aliens see?
Echolocation? Like Bats and Dolphins use?
Or maybe something else? |
