Well I'm in the progress of making a new map, but have stumbled across a problem that seems to be hindering my ability to 'test' run the map via the 'Run' command in Dedit.

What exactly happens is that I process my level, no errors, and when I try to Run my map I get an error message saying "Could not load level". I have no idea whats causing this. Any 'constructive' input towards this matter would be appreciated.

You must Process you must first.
For that: World>Process
Or just Press CTRL+P.

Check everything as there:



Project Directory:
Code:
../avp2



Extra Parameters:
Code:
-leakfile roofpred.lek -nosnapnocsg






Another thing that you have to do is to set the directory for running test, for that do that:

Edit>Options>Run



Executable: (This is the access to the file lithtech.exe in your Aliens Vs. Predator 2 directory, search it via "browse" command.)
Code:
lithtech.exe


Working Directory:
Code:
[Hard_drive]:\Program Files\Fox\Aliens vs. Predator 2


Program arguments:
Code:
-rez AVP2 +runworld %WorldName%


When everything is set rightly, you shall load your map without problem.

I know how to process a map, I already did it a few times on my map, it just started happening all of a sudden, along with the "Objects are out of date" thing aswell. I fixed that 'Objects are out-of-date' problem, but the 'Could not load level' error is still appearing. Any ideas what could be causing this ?

Oh ye here's a picture of the not-so-completed CO. The current one I have has a few other things in there.

I've had it a couple of times, for me it meant the ed. file is corrupted, which in turn means it's fucked.

Well I have a hunch of whats causing this problem. I went ahead and tried to run another .ed file, but to no avail. So, I tihnk that its not my .ed files, but AvP2 itself. Could this be because I recently installed the new master_server_patch v1.2? I had a thought, thanks to le celt, that the new master serv doesn't need you to type in anything into the command line but sort of fuses itself with the .exe already. So maybe lithtech isn't running because of this change to the .exe?

Ye any input on this is still greatly appreciated.

Well I managed to fix the problem, luckily it wasn't the map file itself, but rather AvP2 or The tools themselves. A quick re-installation did the trick so I am working on it again. Heres a few pics, which are out-dated; due to said problem.







So ye, tell me what you think, crit, suggestions e.t.c.

Nice looking for a first map.
I'm just curious to see how it gonna progress.
Don't forget to fix everything (Visibility, clean up your node tree, etc.)

Thanks Le Celt, don't know much about hullmarkers and such, and I'm lost whenever someone says Node tree lol. But rest assured, I won't release this map until I am positive it will run smoothly. Which will mean beta testing Wink

Hopefully it will be both SP and MP. I have yet to determine what MP modes will be available, but as of now I am thinking Survivor, Overrun, Evac and TDM. So nearly all.

As for SP, well I have quite a few ideas for this. But the main one I am resting on now is this:

A Lone marine survivor, split up from your team and alone. You must reclaim the base from the Xenomorphs by use of the Facility's tech and equipment (Sentry guns e.t.c). This will require you to go around the base repairing various equipment so you can get certain areas to open up to you or to get some power, I doubt any1 wants to go wandering down a pitch black corridoor with Xeno's running around No . Think of it as something like Dead Space, but the funny thing is I have never played Dead Space scratch

EDIT: Heres a picture of the Lab section, still a good bit to do here.
